Welcome to the website of the Department of Medical Technology.
The department is responsible of the undergraduate program in Medical and Wellness Technology. We also arrange courses for biomedical engineering students from other faculties and programs.
The program includes studies in biomedicine, natural science and engineering. The lcurriculum can be found

Pasi Pulkkinen will defend his PhD thesis "Radiographical Assessment of Hip Fragitility" on Friday, February 6 at 12 noon. Professor Hannu Aro from University of Turku will be the official opponent. Thesis
The study of Aki Vainionpää "Effect of impact exercise and its intensity on bone geometry at weight-bearing tibia and femur" received the Best Bone Research Award 2007 in the Category of Clinical Studies. The award was granted by the Finnish Bone Society.
Prof. Timo Jämsä was the official opponent of the defense of the PhD thesis of Ossi Riekkinen at the University of Kuopio. The thesis study was about the ultrasound diagnostics of trabecular bone.
Aki Vainionpää received the OWI stipend from the best thesis in wellbeing and health technologies in 2007-2008.

BIOMEDEA III Conference on BME education in Europe was held in Stuttgart, 23-25.9.2005. Prof. Timo Jämsä attended the conference and also chaired workshops during the conference.
